Standing on his own two feet

Standing in my play pen

At 9 1/2 months Kanthika can now stand up holding onto things. Here he is in his playpen having just figured out that it is a lot more fun to turn around and look at the stuff inside the playpen rather than staring through the bars at the at the bare garden outside.

He is also trying to take his first steps these days, although still very much at the experimental stage. He can balance himself in the standing position (without holding onto anything) for only a few seconds before he over compensates and ends up on his knees or bottom. He's much better at it than when he started, when sometimes he would just fall flat on his face (not realising that putting his hands in front would break his fall!)

Uthpala and I are on tenterhooks waiting to catch him toddling off on his own. Although not sure how we are going to cope once he can run rings around us :-)

Modelling new clothes ...

Kanthika recently got sent some new clothes by his grandparents in Sri Lanka. This was taken a few days after he turned 9 months old, modelling his new outfit for some pictures.

He is not a huge fan of being dressed up so getting a whole outfit on for the picture was a little difficult. But once he was dressed he was really happy :-)
